IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING
Kenya’s very own Eliud Kipchoge broke his own world record in the Berlin Marathon which was held on 25th September, 2022 as he crossed the line in a time of 2:01:09 seconds, to beat by 30 seconds his previous best, set four years ago in the German capital city.
In 2018, he took one minute 20 seconds off compatriot Dennis Kimetto’s 2014 record of 2:02.57 in Berlin to set the record at 2:01:39.
Double Olympic champion Kipchoge proved that No Human Is Limited when he became the first human in history to run a sub-two-hour marathon in the city of Vienna, Austria. Kipchoge ran the 42.195KM distance in a remarkable time of 1:59:40:2 in 2019 but this was not recognized as an official world record since it was set with a team of rotating pacemakers and not in open competition.
Eliud Kipchoge smashed his own marathon world record by 30 seconds with yet another extraordinary display in Berlin. The double Olympic champion looked as serene as it is possible to cross the line in 2hr 1min 9sec to surpass his best set four years ago.
The Embassy takes this opportunity to Congratulate the Legend Eliud Kipchoge.
